1. About these terms

These terms set out the conditions for using Mindlize, a journalling app provided by RAYS ("we", "us"). By using the app, you agree to them.

If you obtained the app through the App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms apply as well. Where these terms and a store's terms differ, the store's terms govern anything to do with purchases and payment made through it.

2. Your account

Mindlize supports Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In only. There is no password to register.

Looking after the account you sign in with is your responsibility. Signing in with the same account brings your entries back after you change devices or reinstall the app.

The app is not for people under 13. If you are a minor, please use it with a parent or guardian's consent.

3. The paid plan

Mindlize is free to use. On the free tier there is a limit on how many entries you can write in a given period, because each entry is analysed by the AI. Subscribing removes that limit.

Apart from that limit, free and paid are the same. Once the free allowance runs out you cannot write new entries, but everything you have already written stays readable and exportable.

Price and billing

The price shown on the purchase screen is the one that applies. It differs by country and region. In the United States it is $12.99 per month.

The subscription renews automatically. Unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, it renews and the payment method registered with the store is charged again.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, through the store you bought it from.

The app's Settings screen links to the same place. Cancelling leaves the subscription usable until the end of the period you have paid for.

Refunds

Because this is digital content, we cannot issue refunds ourselves once a purchase has completed. Please take refund requests to the store you bought it from — Apple or Google.

4. About the AI analysis

Mindlize has an AI read what you write and hand back something to notice. A few things about that are worth stating plainly.

Mindlize is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a medical or mental health professional. If something is weighing on you and does not let up, please talk to one.

The response comes from an AI, not from a person reading and replying. We do not warrant that it is accurate, and what you do with the words it hands back is your own judgement.

If an entry suggests you may be in danger, the app does not analyse it. It shows crisis lines for where you are instead. It contacts no one. Not your family, not the police. There is no reporting mechanism in this app.

Every quotation the app shows is something a real person actually said or wrote, and the source is named. The AI does not write them.

5. What you write

How entries are stored, analysed and destroyed is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Entries are encrypted before they are stored. They are never used to train AI models, and never sold or shared for advertising. You can export everything you have written to a single file at any time.

6. What you must not do

While using Mindlize, please do not:

Where we find any of the above, we may end your access without prior notice.

7. Changes to the service

We may change what the app does, or suspend or discontinue it. Where we have to suspend it for maintenance or a fault, we will give notice where we reasonably can.

If we discontinue the service, we will say so in advance and leave a period in which you can export your entries.

8. Disclaimer

We do not warrant that the app will suit any particular purpose of yours, produce the results you expect, or be available without interruption.

We are not liable for loss arising from your use of the app, except where it results from our intent or gross negligence.

Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app in the preceding twelve months.

Consumer protection law may make part or all of this section inapplicable to you. Where it does, we will act in accordance with that law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we will post the change on this page along with the date it takes effect. For a significant change that works to your disadvantage, we will give reasonable notice beforehand.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. For any dispute concerning the app, the Tokyo District Court shall be the exclusive court of first instance.
